This week we are presenting an exciting addition to our wide roster of private, custom, and gourmet services. With the new year comes the chance to take a step back, and understand what defines us as people, or in our case as a Italy travel experts. We are always looking for new, unique opportunities to provide unforgettable experiences to our clients. This year we are excited to be expanding the Naples section of our website, as well as our Sicily section. Throughout the next few months we will be writing about our new walking tours, food tours, cooking classes, and chauffeured tours in the form of short, fun, and informative blog posts.

Today we present you with the description of our new Naples pizza tour, together with some incredible photos of what your experience can be like. Naples is often considered the birthplace of true, Italian pizza; and even the most patriotic Romans will often set their pride apart to acknowledge how good it is.

Our tour will begin from Via Chiaia, an important historical street in the center of Naples that once lead to the volcanic "Campi Flegrei", and is now home to many of the high end fashion shops, as well as many important churches and palazzos. It is also home to the historical pizzeria where, it is said, the pizza Margherita was invented. We will stop for a delicious 'appetizer', while we begin to learn what sets Neapolitan pizza apart from the rest.

Moving onto our next course, we will walk along Via Roma to visit some pizzerie selling a traditional stuffed vegetable 'pizza rustica'. Perhaps to the surprise of some visitors, we will also try a local dessert version of it that still contains tomato sauce, cheese, and basil, yet uses a sweet pastry dough.

Our next stop---because we're definitely not done eating!---is what is known as a 'friggitoria', essentially a frying shop, where we will try an expertly fried ricotta pizza. And last but not least, for the great culmination of this exciting culinary odyssey, we will make our way to somewhere that sells the real Neapolitan pizza.

We will be lucky enough to see the---literally---flying dough of a 'pizzaiolo' at work. During the tour we'll explain the history of pizza from its origins and and essential tools, to its classic ingredients and it's modern place in Neapolitan and Italian culture. The tour lasts 4 hours and includes all tastings.

Contact us at info@italyhotline.com if you are interested in this tour, and expect to see it on our website in the next couple of days!

Stay tuned for part two, where I will present the description for our new, 8 hour Neapolitan pizza making class!
